If you need to add some dimension to a look, stripes will always work well and be stylish throughout the spring and summertime.

A great example of this is when you wear a neutral look that might be screaming for a pattern to help add interest. Stripes are a great compliment to a head-to-toe neutral outfit and it will prevent the outfit from looking plain or bland. In this spring outfit, I wore neutral tones in every piece except for the classic pattern. This print livened up the entire feel of this springtime ensemble.

This styling trick works very well with classic prints such as polka dots, stripes, ikat or plaid. If you’re going to attempt this during spring or summer don’t be afraid to add some color. This year, try the pantone color of the year: radiant orchid. Find a striped top or ikat printed shorts. In the summer, play with sunny colors such as yellow, coral and vibrant blue. You can buy these seasonal pieces to help keep your wardrobe fresh. They’re not only inexpensive but trendy and stylish too.
