Midi Skirt Outfit for an Evening Out

Being a petite girl it can be hard to pull off midi skirts or dresses. I previously shared with you how to petite women can pull off the midi dress, so it’s only appropriate that we now talk about a midi skirt.

Let me share how a petite girl, like me, can pull of a stylish midi skirt outfit.

One of the problems that smaller framed women run into is not finding clothing that fits. The midi skirt I’m wearing in this outfit did not fit. I was going to take it to my personal tailor, aka my mom, and see if she would be able to bring it in a bit. It’s a high waisted skirt but when I wore it the waist ended up on my hips.

I really wanted to wear it and my mom and I hadn’t had a chance to work on it. So, instead of taking it in I found a clever way to make it work with no alterations needed. I added a skinny belt.

Feel free to steal this idea if you have a high waisted midi skirt that doesn’t fit. I believe this style trick worked so well with this skirt was because the skirt has a thick waistband.

This midi skirt is made with a heavy fabric so to combat the heavy look I wore a light shirt, in fabric and color.

The soft shape and pattern of the shirt balances the heavy skirt. I wanted this midi skirt outfit to create a seamless line from top to bottom and I think this combination achieved that.

These two pieces combined create one stylish midi skirt outfit.

I finished off this look with a pair of black embellished pumps. This is the outfit I wore for Valentine’s Day dinner.
