A Bright Beach Bikini for South Beach Miami
Beach Bikini Fashion
I like bikinis because you can mix and match. You don’t always have to match, either. Wearing a mismatched beach bikini works well if you make sure the two pieces look like they unintentionally belong together. Different patterns work if they have coordinated colors and similar materials.
Or you can work with two solid colors, like I did here. When you are styling a mismatched bikini, be sure that the colors look nice together, and avoid any two colors that don’t go together well, no matter how much you like the individual pieces. Make sure the styles and materials match, as well.
Another important consideration is your skin tone. It’s hard to pull off a cute bikini if the colors don’t work well with your skin. If you’re not sure how to tell the difference between what you like and what looks good on your skin, use these color suggestions to start designing your mismatched beach bikini.
- Light brown or blond hair and medium-light skin: deep reds and earth tones
- Dark brown or black hair with medium-dark skin: almost any bright color!
- Light blond or red hair with very light skin: dark blue and most greens
- Dark hair and skin: pastels work great
- Medium-brown or dark hair with olive skin: black, tangerine, pale blue, taupe
- Dark hair with creamy light skin: almost any blue, emerald, and plum
If you are going to wear jewelry with your beach bikini, choose pieces that are natural in colors and go with the style you are trying to portray. For example, I wore fun beaded bracelets that match the colors of the bikini. The blue, pink, and green colors matched perfectly with the blue and pink of the bikini.
SoBe Lifeguard Towers
I love the colorful, neon vibe in South Beach (SoBe). It sets the perfect tone for the beach and nightlife culture there, and it’s a great backdrop for bright beach bikinis. Art Deco buildings are painted every color of the rainbow. Even the lifeguard towers stand out.
Miami Beach is a city and a very long beach. South Beach is the high-energy beach and neighborhood at the southern tip of Miami Beach; it’s the one you see on TV and in magazines. It draws a lively crowd that gives it its reputation as America’s Party Beach. In addition to the Art Deco buildings in town, the beach features multi-colored lifeguard towers like the one where these pictures were taken. It’s worth a walk along the beach to see all the different designs and colors of these towers.
SoBe is a late-night city, so if you wake up and get out early, it’s very quiet and offers a great opportunity for photos. We took these in the early morning, before the lifeguards were on duty.
A Miami Beach Bikini Look
For this look, I played with mixing two bright, almost neon colors for a fun SoBe vibe. The necklace is a simple long necklace with a leaf pendant and a thin chain so it doesn’t draw attention. For my bracelets, I combined neutral colors with a few beachy ones to continue the fun vibe without making too much of a statement.
For a different beach bikini look, you could also go with an off-the-shoulder swimsuit as a cute option.
Even if you plan to spend most of the day in your bikini, pack some stylish beach attire so you can look beautiful both on and off the sand. And remember your dark sunglasses, sunhat, and sandals when you are getting ready for a stylish day at the beach!

Wow !
“The flame that burns me and destroys me
flows from lovely clear smooth living ice,
and so drains and dries the veins and heart
that I melt away almost invisibly…”
