What Does Your Style Say About You?
Our Clothes Speak for Us Before We Do
I always found it funny when people say, “I don’t dress for anyone I don’t care what people think about me because of my clothes. My clothes don’t mean anything it’s things just what I wear.”
Watching shows like What Not to Wear and seeing how an individual started off defensive and indifferent to leaving the show positive and energetic about what they wear made me smile. They left understanding how clothes have such a dramatic impact on their confidence and life.
Whether you like it or not you’re being judged by what you wear. Positively and negatively.
When you meet someone, before you even get to mutter one word, they already have a predetermined judgement of you. Unconsciously, all of our brains are wired to do this. This is to help us identify friend or foe. Do we like this person, attracted to them or are we put off by something they are doing or wearing.
“This person dresses nicely, he must have a great job. That designer handbag costs a fortune how could she afford that? Pajamas… what a slob. Can’t believe she went out looking like that, did she get dressed in the dark?”
What you wear impacts this initial reaction.
Remember this very important point, the same thing is happening to you. The same judgements and assumptions are drawn about you. Even when it’s just a quick trip to the store.
Take a minute and evaluate what you’re wearing right now. Is it how you would like to be seen?
Are you dressed appropriately for the day? For your life?
Getting dressed in the morning might be a 10 minute or an hour routine for you but it shouldn’t be insignificant.
Make sure your clothes are saying what you want them to.
Last Evening in Rome
This is the last outfit I wore in Rome before heading back to California. We went out for dinner and drinks and had a wonderful evening enjoying our last night.
This gorgeous embellished tunic dress and cutout heels was the perfect combination for a night out in the town. The weather was a little drizzly so I wore my favorite trench coat.
More photos from Italy soon.
Stay Stylish,
