Easy Summer Style that’s Perfect for Summer Travel
Summer Styles
There are many ways you could approach your summer style and your summer travel style. Your travel style might be different from your everyday summer style. It is for me. Usually, my summer style when home consists of shorts and linen button-down shirts or boyfriend tees. I’ll admit, I like to dress more comfortable than dressy in the heat of summer.
Easy is the name of my summer style game. When it comes to summer travels, I try to step my summer outfits up a notch but still keep them comfortable and easy.
In addition to comfortable and easy summer styles, there is also: resort wear, beachwear, clothing for outdoor exploring and formal summer style. Different occasions call for different outfits of course, and you should always dress for the occasion.

Vacation Summer Style
I wore this outfit while traveling in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. Peter and I visited this majestic little corner of the world and spent two weeks enjoying everything that this paradise had to offer. Expect much more travel outfit posts from Mexico.
This summer outfit is the perfect combination of cute, casual, and stylish. It’s perfect for summer travels because the entire outfit is one item.
When traveling, I try to make the most use out of the things I pack. I know sometimes I’m only going to wear some pieces one time, like this dress. Thus, I try to make sure it’s a small item that doesn’t take up much space in my suitcase.
You might recognize the hat, bag, and sandals from my previous outfit post from Mexico; A Cute Outfit for a Beach Vacation in Mexico. For this trip, I made certain that those three items matched all my outfits. I only packed one handbag and hat so expect to see them in more upcoming outfit posts.
We took these photos at Banyan Tree Resort near Playa Del Carmen. Peter and I spend the day exploring the resort, going on an eco tour and enjoying the beach. As you can see this outfit is quite versatile.
To keep your summer style easy but still cute and stylish keep these things in mind.
Look for dresses or rompers, single items that make up the outfit itself. This way you don’t have to worry about mixing and matching separates, color coordinating or any of that. Look for off the shoulder, maxi, shift, midi or flare dresses that fit your style and body shape. The same thing goes for rompers.
Once you found your primary “foundation,” accessorize your summer outfit to complete the look. For example; how much would you like the outfit I’m wearing in this post if I just had on flip flops and a black crossbody bag? Not much right. The accessories play a supporting role but still complete the look.
Look for simple accessories like a few gold bracelets or dainty necklace and earrings. Instead of flip flops wear gladiator, strappy or slide sandals. If you’re up for it and have one, wear a hat! Hat’s completely change your look and protect you from the harsh summer sun.
Off the Shoulder Summer Dress
Off the shoulder, dresses are hugely popular this summer, and I love them as well. Stores are offering many cute options which are the reason I bought various off the shoulder pieces to bring with me to Mexico. These off the shoulder summer styles are perfect for a Mexico vacation.
Off the shoulder items have been popular before, it’s not like a brand suddenly invented off the shoulder, and now it’s the summer craze, like platform espadrilles. If you search online, you’ll see articles in various popular fashion websites from two years ago and before about the off the shoulder pieces are “having a moment.” When something becomes popular, retailers offer more options to feed the demand which is why you see so many now.
If you’re going to wear off the shoulder dresses, tops, or rompers here are some style tips to keep in mind.
Don’t go overboard with necklaces or earrings. You want to keep accessories to a minimum, as the cut of the dress brings a lot of attention to your chest and shoulders if you add a large necklace on top of that it can look too busy. Opt for something simple and dainty that doesn’t touch the fabric of the dress, like the simple bar necklace I’m wearing in this outfit.
Style your hair accordingly. There are two ways you can take your hairstyle; up or down. If you wear your hair up you can show off your shoulders which is why you’re wearing an off the shoulder dress in the first place, isn’t it?
Many off the shoulder dresses are flowy and don’t accentuate your waist. If you don’t want it to look like you’re wearing a sack, then look for a dress with a cloth belt or add a belt. The off the shoulder summer dress I’m wearing in this post came with a cloth belt the same color of the dress, so I was able to bring some definition to an otherwise formless dress.
If you have a large chest, keep in mind that emphasis is on your chest with off the shoulder dresses. If you’re cool with that then go for it, just make sure you wear a great bra. If you can’t find a bra that works for these style of dresses, then look for a dress with straps so you can hide your bra straps.
If you have broad shoulders, off the shoulder dresses will emphasize them and make them appear even wider. If you still want to wear this style, then look for a dress that has a fuller bottom to balance your top half.
