Shopping for a Hat

I’ve shared with you my love for hats. Not just winter hats but all types of hats in a variety of colors and materials. In this outfit post excited to finally get to share with you a red winter hat! The color and style is perfect for the holiday season.

Hats can be a tricky accessory to wear because they are a statement accessory. You need to wear them with a lot of confidence.

You should love the hat you’re wearing from the shape, color and material. If you don’t love the hat and the entire outfit it’ll just make you feel uncomfortable. Kind of like the hat isn’t for you.

If you don’t wear hats often or don’t own any I would advise taking a trip to a hat shop.

Specialty hat shops have a huge variety of styles. You’ll be able to try on a variety to see what suits you best. There is a hat shop Peter and I frequent in Carmel by the Sea in California and another one in Laguna Beach.

When trying on hats try on every style because you might not know which you like best and you might be surprised about what looks best on you. You should even try on the one of a kind hats for kicks. Hat shops sell vintage classic to affordable styles so you’ll be sure to find a hat that fits your price range.

Peter and I have visited many hat shops and we even went to one while in Rome. Prices range from $20 to $550 dollars. What determines the prices is the material and if it’s age. Almost all true vintage hats are made of fine material and are super classy!

Stylish Winter Hat Outfit

Now on to the outfit!

This is the outfit I wore to get our Christmas tree this past weekend. A seasonal outfit for a fun holiday activity.

The winter accessories brought this look togehter. In order to make the accessoires stand out I wore black jeans, white sweater and black flats. The accents in color are in the red winter hat, plaid scarf and emerald green mini crossbody.

Since the hat is such a bold piece I made sure to wear colors that balanced the overall look. The emerald green crossbody and red scarf complimented the hat. They didn’t distract from the hat on the otherhand they made the outfit look cohesive.
