You might remember this “shirt” from another post. It’s actually a shirt dress but I thought why not repurpose it and wear it as a shirt. It’s perfectly stylish either way.
When you purchase something you really love you want to wear it over and over again and in different ways too. This shirt dress is one of those pieces. It’s one of those pieces that I love, the colors, material and fit. It’s relaxed but not sloppy looking and the stripes give it some character.
A shirt dress is the perfect item you can transition into Fall and maybe even Winter when you wear it as a shirt.
Yes, you can also wear it with leggings but with the style of shirt dress I’m wearing in this post leggings just wouldn’t look good. The light airy material is perfect for bare legged outfits. The leggings would make the outfit too heavy and would be too much of a contrast. Don’t transition dresses into Fall or Winter if they are meant to be only worn in Spring or Summer. The look can come off as unbalanced.
So, if you really want to wear that shirt dress for Fall wear it as a shirt. It makes perfect sense and it’s easy. It’s already supposed to look like a shirt.
Wearing your shirt dress as a shirt works great if the material is thin and light. If the fabric is thicker the transition might not be as easy to pull off because of bulkiness. Simply tuck in your shirt and it’s ok if it’s a little loose. You don’t want to tuck in the whole dress because then it would be uncomfortable and not look as nice.
I paired this blue and white shirt dress with olive green chinos, taupe ankle boots and striped clutch. I went with boots instead of heels or sandals to give it more of a Fall feel.
