1 piece, 3 ways: The Essential Military Style Jacket
Fall Wardrobe Essentials โ The Military Style Jacket
Today I share with you three different ways to wear a military style jacket.
The military style jacket is synonymous with fall. Once the weather gets crisp and the leaves start falling the military style jackets appear everywhere. It’s not necessarily a trendy item, it’s a jacket that comes around every year. Though the style varies from year to year, the essence of the military style jacket stays in tact. For example, popular variations have larger pockets or elbow patches.
As you might imagine, there are tons of ways you can wear a military style jacket. But today, I’m focusing on my three favorite ways to wear it; with white jeans, a plaid skirt and distressed denim jeans.
The jacket I’m wearing in this post is from Lily&Violet you can find it here.
Outfit #1
Transition your white jeans into Fall by pairing them with a military style jacket. This outfit kills two birds with one stone. First, you bring your favorite white jeans into Fall, because you know you can wear white after Labor Day. Second, you create one stylish and unique look.
In this outfit, you want to keep your outfit color palette relatively light. Try to stay away from harsh contrasts. The only dark color I wore was the black mini crossbody but even that has gold studs embellishments. To keep on the military style theme, I wore a structured chambray shirt instead of a loose flowy top. Best way to complete the look is to add your favorite ankle boots and make sure to roll up your jeans.
Outfit #2
The perfect outfit for transitional weather is a military style jacket with a plaid skirt and cozy sweater. This cute fall outfit is great when it’s not that cold and you can wear a skirt without tights. The mini plaid skirt balances the somewhat large jacket. For balance, remember skimpy bottom means covered up top and vis versa, keep it classy.
Since military jackets usually have an oversized fit, you’ll have plenty of room to layer. I wore a cozy cream knit sweater under the jacket and never felt constricted.
#StyleTip. Don’t buy a military style jacket that is too tight, instead, find a perfect slightly oversized one so you have room to layer.
Outfit #3
For a casual fall outfit, pair a military style jacket with distressed denim and stripes. Most of the time you can add stripes to any outfit. Stripes are the universal pattern, somehow, no matter the outfit it almost always makes an outfit better.
With four key pieces you can easily put together this simple casual outfit. All you need: a military style jacket, striped shirt, distressed jeans, and booties. Adorn to your preference.
How do you wear the military jacket? Let me know if you’ve worn it like any of these styles!

I love wearing a military jacket with a floral or super girly dress. I think the combination between pretty and girly with a slightly rougher edge from the jacket looks great. Love your style tips.
