Bold, Elegant and Powerful – The Cape

If you are looking for a highly stylish alternative to a coat than a cape is just it! A cape is bold, mysterious and not to mention practical. It adds the right amount of drama and can be easily slung over your fall or winter outfit.

You don’t have to be a caped crusader to rock the cape. Wear it casually with black skinnies or dressed up with an evening gown. Depending on where you want to wear a cape determines the type you ultimately end up purchasing. If you have no use for an evening caplet go for a casual tartan to wear with denim. There are so many styles available now that you can definitely find one to call your own.

Remember to keep your outfit under the cape somewhat tight. Since a cape does make you appear top heavy you will want your bottom half to be severely form fitting. To achieve that look I decided to wear tights.

I also had fun coordinating the colors and pieces in this outfit. I choose a large knitted sweater dress with an oversized turtleneck. I pulled the knitted turtleneck over the cape and it made for a nice cozy touch.

My accessories, gold earrings and ring with a super gorgeous rose gold watch from Fossil . The greatest thing about this watch is that has an Adjust-O-Matic closure – perfect for my skinny wrist. I removed three closures and it fit perfectly!

Whether you choose tartan, animal print or a subtle print like the one I’m wearing a cape automatically adds drama to an otherwise mundane outfit.
