How to Mix Feminine and Edgy Pieces in an Outfit

There are times when you want to be very feminine and then there are times when you want to be somewhat feminine.

There are a variety of things you can classify as “feminine.” It can be the color, pattern, material, or fabric. When you want to “tone down” the femininity of a particular item just pair it with a contrasting style.

In this outfit, I wore a very pretty white lace blazer and a light pink crossbody with a silver bow accent. This combination can be a little too girly for some individual’s taste but an easy way to combat the femininity is to wear something distressed, studded, or both.

Mixing feminine pieces with edgier items helps to bring balance to the look. This keeps the overall outfit from looking too sweet or too grungy. At times, it can be a difficult balance to manage but if you put together a look that you love you’ll create your own personal style.

There are some edgy and feminine outfit combinations that you may know will work well together and create a cohesive look. Like: studs and lace or black stripes and silk. You can also select pieces that bring the two styles together, such as pink studded flats or pastel studded belts. The key is to combine the two elements in one piece. Ultimately, be true to your personal style and what you prefer. If you hate studs than go with something leather.

In this look, I took a subtle approach in mixing edgy and feminine but that fits my personal style. I’d rather look sweeter than edgier.
