Are you a fan of fall? Do you love looking through Pinterest getting fall outfit inspiration and brighten up when you see a sidewalk covered in gorgeous fall leaves?

I do!

Fall is my FAVORITE season; I look forward to it every year. I love the color, smells, and the clothes.

I live in California, so our fall is not very cold. We can get away with bare legs and arms with temperatures in the high 60’s. But once in awhile it gets chilly, and that’s when I bring out my favorite fall essentials to create a stylish fall outfit.

Let’s review what are the three fall essentials that will make you fall outfit 10x more stylish.

A Cute Beanie

You can’t go through fall without a cute beanie. They are stylish, keep your head warm and come in a variety of options so you could find one that suits your style.

I like neutral beanies so I can wear it with a variety of outfits. The beanie I’m wearing in this outfit is from Target. I couldn’t find it online because it only cost $3 and it was in the bins when you enter the store. If you shop at Target, you know what I’m referring to.

Depending on your definition of “cute” look for a beanie you see yourself wearing on the go or used to complete a fall outfit. It could be a slouchy boyfriend beanie or one with a big pom pom on top of it like mine.

Imagine this fall outfit without a beanie. Would it look as stylish? Nope.

A Stylish Coat

The next must have fall essential you need a stylish coat! Other than the obvious reason for needing a coat, stylish coat can complete an outfit.

Instead of layering sweaters, wear a coat. When shopping for a stylish coat make sure you pay attention to the color, fabric, and length.

If you’re investing in a coat and plan to wear it for longer than a year purchase a stylish coat in a neutral color. Look for black, gray, camel or dark blue. A neutral coat will work with every outfit, and a high-quality coat is well worth the money.

Next detail to consider is the fabric. A wool coat is your best option because it keeps you warm and a very durable. But if you live in an area with consistent rain then a water-resistant coat would be better than a wool coat.

The last item is the coat length. A coat that ends just below the thickest part of your thigh is the most flattering. If you’re petite, like I am, this length will not make you look shorter than you already are.

In addition to those main three points, I also pay attention to the details of the coat. I like stylish coats with detachable hoods and ones that have a stand collar.

The coat I’m wearing in this post has all of the three important points I mentioned in addition to a stand collar and detachable fur hood! It’s perfect! The wool coat is by Andrew Marc, and it’s an essential I will be wearing with many outfits to come.

Now imagine how this fall outfit would look without that super stylish coat? It brings it down a notch.

Cute Ankle Boots

Last fall outfit essential is cute ankle boots! One of the reasons I love fall so much is because of boots! You can wear boots year round, but the fall season is the best season for boots!

I prefer to wear boots over flats or sneakers in the fall. They make an outfit more stylish. Whether you like ankle, thigh high, knee high or over the knee boots, they will bring your outfit up a notch!
